If you are reading this page, the website is clearly working. It is hosted on a 2010 mac mini along with a Minecraft server and a Jellyfin server. I could do with a more powerful server but it's not been too much of an issue yet. I plan to build a new server PC using my old PC parts one day.
The design of the page has changed a couple of times, with the most drastic change being the design you are looking at now. I randomly thought of the idea to turn my topnav into a Windows 98-like taskbar, and got drawing. Originally each button was an image, but that was a pain as changing a button meant going back and changing every image. Instead, I changed them to be rendered in html/css so they can be updated easily, and dynamically changed between light/dark mode.
The font on this site is Microsoft Sans Serif, the one used in old Windows versions.
When i first made this site, the navigation bar was at the top of the page. This doesn't really make sense for a windows taskbar so I moved it to the bottom. It is still referred to as the topnav internally, and I can't be bothered to change it because it doesn't really make a difference.
I also made it so the navigation links collapse into a menu when the screen is to small to fit them (well, I mostly copied it from w3schools but it's all learning I guess....).
I'm not a web developer or anything, I just like trying to make my site look as best as possible. Hopefully you like it :)
